Family and Community Announcement
Hello Interagency Southeast families,
This is Principal Willingham, and I’m reaching out with a personal invitation to join us for an important Community Action Planning Meeting on Tuesday, January 20th, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., hosted at South Shore K–8, located at 4800 South Henderson Street.
Over the past few months, our community has been coming together to talk honestly about safety, student wellbeing, and the challenges our young people are facing. And what we know, very clearly, is that real solutions only come when schools, families, and community partners work together.
This meeting is another step in that work.
During the forum, you’ll be able to choose a focus group based on what matters most to you, whether that’s mental health and healing, safe passage and community partnerships, school-based safety, or policy and advocacy. Each group will work together to create ideas, solutions, and next steps that directly support the safety and success of our students.
Your voice truly matters.
Whether you’ve joined us before or this is your first time, we want you in the room.
And I want to acknowledge something important:
Some of the families who are most impacted by safety concerns may not always be able to attend spaces like this, and we see that.
That is why we’re asking those who can attend to help us think about how we bring more families into the conversation, so that the work we build reflects everyone’s needs and experiences.
This is not just a meeting, it’s collective action.
It’s neighbors, educators, community partners, and families coming together to make our schools and our neighborhoods safer and more supportive for every young person.
We will have space for connection, planning, and meaningful next steps.
Your ideas and your perspective will help shape the direction of this work across the entire Rainier Beach corridor.
Again, the meeting will take place:
Tuesday, January 20, 2026
5:30–7:30 p.m.
South Shore K–8 School
I truly hope to see you there.
Thank you for your partnership, your advocacy, and your commitment to our students and community.
Take care, and I look forward to seeing you on the 20th.
